I have not read The Crying Tortoise. The new book sounds interesting.

I would like to see some kind of photographic or video capture of these behaviors some day.

While the last few comments have been interesting, we're sort of getting off topic.

Me too.

I also wanted to note that Tomas is the only person I know who has studied sulcatas extensively in the wild, and that he is not alone out there. He has an entire staff and numerous research students from all over the world coming and going regularly. In fact the first hatchling he knows of seen in the wild was seen by one of his research students. He was a little upset the the guy hadn't taken any photos, so he made the student take him back to the exact spot where he was able to find three more hatchlings on another day. This was a first for him apparently, as hatchlings are almost never seen in the wild, at least where they are.

Baoh, have you seen ANYTHING written about hatchlings in the wild based on actual first hand experience? If this is too far off topic please feel free to continue this in a new thread or PMs. We have stumbled upon a good subject and tortoise conversation here.
