Since the last time I posted an adoption, I've taken in 8 RES. But today when I answered the please-come-rescue-my-water-turtle call, rather than a RES it was this:

I looked up pictures of yellow and red belly sliders, and while the plastron looks like a YB, the carapace is plain brown with a yellow dorsal stripe. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, I was too close with the camera. The tail is a male tail. But does anyone know what kind of turtle it is?

It looks very similar to some of the paint turtles we have in NJ. But not sure...

It's a Southern Painted turtle, Chrysemys picta dorsalis, Yvonne. :D

It is a painted turtle, nice size one too they are hard to take care of.
