Hey, if I put a flat screen above my tortoise pen about 3 feet above. It wouldn't have a negative affect on him would it?

I use to have a bearded dragon who was very intrigued by the tv, he would be sure to jump up on his high spot and position himself pointed at the tv and enjoy it while it was on, I suspect the motion and movement are the bait....when you would turn the tv off....he would go away and mess around....(this was quite an observation and trial that went on to make sure that it was the tv and not a natural time pattern)....so, be careful to not get him hooked on the tv...lol :D:p

I would just make sure you had another place to move the tort, just incase the sounds made him shy and hide all the time. You know like the sound of a predator.:D You wouldn't want him to think he is getting served up for someone's supper:p

Emrys loves the TV, but seems to show very little interest in animated shows (e.g. The Simpsons), and plenty of interest in wildlife documentaries, which I find interesting.

LOL...one of our dogs loves when we watch NatGeo or any other nature station....I see his eyes watching and tracking the movement on the tv...it is awesome....Of course we can only speculate in our human boundaries as to why they do what they do...we will never really know. But it sure is fun to see animals act like this....lol :D

Yep! I do wonder if Emrys can identify 'Bart Simpson isn't real. Giant ant at 2000 times its real size is'.

Makes you wonder how much is instinct, and how much they learn from experience, but like you say we'll never know. Seems weird to think he could define between real and animated pictures on a TV screen, but I guess anything's possible.

The sound shouldnt be a problem, but the light would definitely disturb him after hours

I'm guessing it depends on the programming...I'd hate to see my torts get all glassy-eyed and slack-jawed over Teen Mom 2 or Jersey Shore, like my daughter and her friends do!

OTOH, if they want to watch something wholesome like Monster Quest or MASH w/ me, that'd be fine. ;)

Excellent, and chances are your babcocki will approve, too!
