So i saw this online the other day... Weird because it was on my facebook suggested page...
So here is the questions:
1 - Have any of you guys use this?
2 - What are the pros and cons?
3 - can this type of bulbs cause the same effect as the coiled bulbs?

Of course i want to save money but not at the cause of tortoises health...

Here is the link:

Here is for another type:

Dont get me wrong, i just like the idea of it being a little more compact compaired to regular mercury vapor bulbs. This seems a lot smaller. I would love to hear every bodies thoughts and ideas on this product.

The first one is a compact UVB - it just has an outer casing to make ir look like an ordinary bulb. I had an one fall apart in my hand as I was examining it a few years ago.

No.

I have been away a while, I am afraid the world outside tortoises has had to take priority for a few months :)

I was told the second one (the clear mercury vapor bulb) can cause eye irritation but i just find it weird because the coiled bubl is not clear and that too can cus eye irritation due to brightness.. hm..

It's probably the worst of all worlds. With the cover making it look like a normal bulb it is ineffective as UVB doesn't transmit through plastic... without the cover it harms the eyes.
