Please check the emys pattern below.
Please share your opinion whether this is real or human made? Or whether anyone has ever seen or met similar one.
Fyi, this tortoise is under bidding in our local forum now...

emystiong, I'm not talking about the color, but the pattern. Is it common for emys to have such things?

I know but that pattern will simply disappear as it grow . I have seen similar on some juv brown emys beside a few Radiated's plastron and they fade or disappear as they grow larger !! How it comes about I got no idea .

But let's wait for others to answer maybe it's some unique pattern awaiting to be proven !!

Cheers

You see those little white squiggley lines frequently in the Testudo species, especially Greeks. I had heard (many years ago) that it was the calcium making its way through the keratin. We have a couple threads about it here on the forum, and we haven't come to any firm conclusions about why it occurs. Suffice it to say that it goes away in time and doesn't seem to be harmful or unhealthy to the tortoise.

All right, thank you both emystiong and emysemys for your explanation.

And your names are similar. Are you both sure you are not brother and sister? :D

I won't mind a bit - but chances of some of our WC old emys are related are higher , unless all your emys are bought as CB !!

Cheers
