just finished with the mulch and a banana tree and some bamboo. i have lots more plants to put in, as well as another large rock hide. you cant see the one thats in there already because its just below the camera. But so far breeding has begun like usual so they obviously like it.

Looking good! I suggest wrapping something around the bottom of the banana tree. I had one about that size and my tortoises ate (like a beaver) around the trunk, when the tree fell, they ate the tree, then they proceeded to dig up the roots and ate them too.

I was afraid of that. And I will be adding 1 more to the group Wednesday so that will make a trio of banana tree bandits. Haha. I still have a lot of work to do in there, like more nesting material to begin with. Maybe a stone circle so they can't get to it. : )

What type of bamboo? Do you have any plans to keep it contained?

Yes they like every part of a banana tree, I had to cover the trunk of some ginkgo trees, the were eating the bark.It looks nice, they look happy, Just be careful that one doesn't climb on the back of the other to get over the wall, they are great climbers, Good luck with the breeding. Len

Oh yes they are awesome climbers. Luckily the wall has a secondary fence. And the pen behind it is the redfoot pen so I suppose they could hang out : ) it's golden spear leaf bamboo. I have it taking over in another spot I don't mind if it takes over I will always groom it so the mountains can move about. I'll also be adding some black bamboo a big root ball of it. All the shade I can get is needed for Texas heat.

If you want shade, plant some colocasia, but they will have to be protected or they will be eaten also. those 3 foot leaves provide good shade, and manouria food too. Len
