Hi there! I hope this isn't a silly question. Clear urine? My baby leopard urinates on me while I run the tap to warm the water for a soak. I guessing it's the sound of the water. Anyway, is clear urine a reason to worry? I breed chameleons and am used to poop and urate in one movement. My baby has produced poo but this urine got me thinking. Thanks

It is normal for a leopard tortoise to urinate without passing urates, especially for ones which are soaked daily.

You normally won't see Urates with leopard torts like you would with some of the other species. As for the color, it is quite clear.

Tortoises extract uric acid from their foods and convert it to urates. This is separate from their water reserve. They store water as water is precious. What your tortoise is releasing is water, not pee or urea. When water is available like in a storm or when they find a good water source, a tortoise will often release the water it is retaining to replenish with fresh water.
