Hello I have a Russian tortoise and I'm going on vacation can I leave the lights on. For 2 days?
I would put them on some sort of thermostat there's too much danger of overheating with them on for 2 days straight.
@dmmj Has the right idea, a $10 timer will make it so you don't have to worry about the lights again.![]()
Your lights should be set on a timer anyway. This way the "sun" rises and sets at the same time everyday in you indoor enclosure.
Even though I'm retired and home all the time, I still have all my tortoise lights on timers. And even though they're automatic, I still go out and around to every tortoise shed and habitat to make sure everything is ok. But, if for any reason I'm not available, I can rest assured that lights will go on and off on their own.
