This is one of the ones we hatched a few years ago. It is coloring up weird, I'm not complaining at all but I've never seen a cherryhead like this one before. The yellow flares on its head keep swirling more and more. But it is the yellow that is developing on its leg scales that have me amazed. Vern has coloring like that on his legs, we just call it "Candy Corn" His head and neck are completely yellow though. That guy is a looker!

I like him/her. What are the parents like, did your yellow cherryhead have anything to do with it?

I'm guessing this pre-dates Phoenix? Is this a Rambutan or Lemon Head baby?

Very intriguing yellow colors on both the head and legs, absolutely fantastic! Nice job Allegra!

This is an example of breeding two exceptional animals together and then selecting the most exceptional results of that breeding.
In another generation of selective breeding you could probably produce something even more outstanding.
Or eye popping.
And yet, it would still be a cherry head.

It is a Rambutan baby.

Here is Rambutan, she was grumpy and would stretch put her neck:ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465050711.638547.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465050722.457004.jpg

One of the two potential daddies:

The other:

Here are the siblings to the first one. They have a lot of color, one has a little bit of head swirls but legs are solid colored and other is all one color as well:

The other solid one:ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465050990.728122.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465050999.931135.jpg

I just love your torts!!! Would live to hear your story some day: how this colorful group came to be. My baby Tucker has started showing some color on his shell but his head/neck and limbs are really not remarkable. I gather that the more color the more desirable the animal. What are you guys who breed them look at when selecting your animals?

ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465058153.456809.jpghere is our baby Tucker about 4 weeks after he joined our family. Egg tooth still there, really tiny baby. ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1465058288.270573.jpg recent picture, his neck has always been black and very little color on his limbs. Starting to get some yellows/oranges on top of his head though

When beginning our herd, we would look for three things, yellow sclera in the eyes, lots of scales (head and legs) and most of all color on the neck! Of course not all of our torts have all three, but we would still select based on those parameters. I'm a sucker for the neck colors and the off colored cherries.
