I found this on the top of Beans neck. (Yearling leopard tortoise)
There is no swelling or bump under this spot. Could it be fungal? Like ringworm? What should I do?

Hmmm it could be ringworm. If it is ringworm it can be treated with over the counter antibiotic ointment (on humans -don't know if the same applies for reptiles) applied 2 or 3 times a day and make sure you wash your hands before touching anything else because that's how ringworm spreads.

Antibiotic ointment or anti-fungal ointment? I've dealt with ringworm in mammals and know it's a fungus but I wasn't sure if reptiles can even get ringworm and if so, what can be used on it since they aren't mammals. I'm not sure what's safe and what isn't.

Could it be a bug bite or a sting healing? They spend an hr or two a day outside and hmmm...

Is say it's a question for your vet.

Never seen ringworm on a reptile.

Where did you get that tortoise?

It's Beans. My big guy (turns 1 this month) is from Greg T here on the forum. This weird spot showed up a couple of days ago, or at least that's when I noticed it. But it's definitely not been there long.

It could definitely be something that is now healing, that is what it looks like to me now.

Just curious--what was the verdict on this? Did it get better by itself or did you have to take him to a vet?

I believe it may have been a healing ant bite. It went away without complication.

Thank you for letting me know--I was checking because one of our sulcata boys has a lesion/bald spot on his head that I thought may be ringworm.
