Sorry, I should have mentioned that I was talking about the price I paid for my Indian star tortoise pair. Knowing what I know now, I paid for what an adult pair normally goes for, and was sold a sub-adult pair. But, overall its okay since they were extremely healthy from day 1 and I have never had an issue with either of them.

Now I have no idea about redfoot prices other than some hypos I was intrigued by several months ago. Even if Bill does have higher prices, the animals he sold me were top notch.

**disclaimer**- I did see a presentation he gave at a Repticon advocating for rabbit pellets as substrate. Makes me wonder how how healthy the hatchlings he sells are...

Underground reptiles had good prices I thought. They were sold out too.
I am very happy with my little guy from Bill.
He has alot of pretty coloring. He isnt really a red foot, more like an orange foot.:)
I love it though, he is different.

Found CA Desert Tortoise walking by the street in our neighborhood. Posted found signs around but no one called. He turned out to be a very social escaping tortoise. After he got out of the fence a few times we put and address label on the back of his shell (which I learned you are not supposed to do). As new residents we ended up meeting a lot of our neighbors when they returned the tortoise to us :)

We met more neighbors on regular walks around the block and saw someone had a gigantic African Sulcata Tortoise in their yard. Finally we met that tortoise owner one day. In our first conversation they asked us if we wanted the giant sulcata.

How did you get a free redfoot on Facebook? Is there a group that offers them up?

It was a local board. They were their kids and I guess they just weren’t interested in them anymore.

Oh my gosh, look at the size of that tortoise! How cool is that.
That’s a hoot! Putting an address label on his shell. Why aren’t you suppose to do that?
    Thanks for posting, great story.

The sulcata I bought from a breeder in Louisiana don't remember who. At the time I thought they were to be raised dry lol and asked the breeder if they were healthy being raised in such a humid environment. Now i know it was great that they were raised in a humid environment.

Our thirteen year old sulcata was given to us by a very sweet lady. We drove from Louisiana to Savanna, Georgia to get him. She had three males she had raised since hatchlings. When they were five, her kids suggested it was time to start finding them new homes because she was older and none of her grown children wanted to care for them. We’ve had him for eight years.
We have an 18ish month sulcata as well that I found on Craigslist. I was really interested in redfoots. We live in southern Louisiana and thought they would do well here. Well, after seeing what was going on with the sulcata, I told my husband we should go get her. We’ve only had her two weeks. We are working on fixing our house to sell it so we can get more land for these two tortoises. Then I want to get my redfoots.

All but one of my Redfoot where given to me or sold to me by keepers that could not house them. Not including the few that have hatched from eggs that I also had/have now.
Most of these have now found new homes into our growing TFO community.
The average RETAIL price for an adult Redfoot in nice shape here would be between $200 and $300.
Babies that are well started are from $65 to $150.
