White on shell

2FBBB51A-6093-4F2C-AC93-445712206C89.jpegThe edges around his shell are very white. When I adopted him I was told it was healed scars. But he’s been in the rain a lot and they seem brighter white and larger. He has them along the back of his shell as well. Not soft at all. Thoughts?

They are abrasion areas.
You're going to see them from time to time.
It looks like he's been crawling UNDER something.
The ones pictured are old from a dog from previous owner. Maybe they’re just so much brighter and whiter lately, due to all the rain.

I seriously wouldn't worry about it much.
Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm or to ad another thought on the matter.
Tortoises get into all kinds of situations and get scraped and scratched.
What I see in your photo doesn't seem to be anything serious.
