In the photos below George is soaking in the water dish I gave him when he first came here, before I got him a large saucer. You see him soaking in it because I keep having to give it back to him as he seems quite attached to it. He soaks in this one daily, on and off all day. If i try to change it he refuses to soak at all. Ugh! I'd like to get a larger one in there for humidity. And because if he grows much more he's not going to fit! Animals are funny.

Also, i wonder why his colors do not show up in pictures? The coloring on his head is orange, but in photos it looks like washed out yellow?

When you change dishes do you set it up the same way...with the rocks, etc.? Have you put him into the new dish so he can see it's safe?

Yes, and yes. It's not that he refused to ever try it. He goes in the new one a couple times but then just stops using it completely. This one gets lots of use. I can't figure it out.

That 1st photo is awesome. He's funny, and he's watching you thinking, will you just leave my dish alone.

He's the boss and your just going to have to adapt to it. The first pic is great, he looks to be telling you how it is and going to be:D

My little redfoot loves her hide and I am afraid we are going to have to bust it like a piggy bank some day the way she wedges herself in there. When I swapped it for a new larger option she refused and just overturned the whole cage trying to find a suitable spot outside to sleep.

Do you have room for 2 water dishes? Maybe you could try that for a bit.

I am having a similar issue. I recently changed the soaking dish for one of my Leopards because he out grew his previous one. He seems to hate the new dish, even though it is very similar to the last one. Sigh...what can you do!

My tort recently got a bigger food dish and shes so in love with it. I was moving stuff around her enclosure today and she sat smack inside her food dish & when he moved her, she came RUSHING back to it and tried to sit in it again. She never cared when I use to move the old food dish around. Lol so sweet.

Could George possibly like the fact that there is a design on the bottom of the dish that he can 'see'? Vern is weird about solid colors and not wanting to step off a step or into a dish that he isn't sure of the depth on, but he is kind of an odd fellow.
