I just finished giving her a nice warm soak and when I saw her beak part of it looked pale.
When I touched it, it felt like it wanted to come off.

how much should I trim off?
Why not let the box turtle trim it ? By putting its food on slate every time it eats it will trim the beak !

At the point this beak is, I think the best thing to do is trim it. Probably about 1/8th inch give or take. I've only trimmed 2 and they weren't mine. I used toe nail cutters not trimmers. They look like a pair of dykes.
What do you put their water in ? Because if you are putting the water in a clay dish , you may want to take the water out put the food in and after they are done eating put the water back !
I don't give any of my torts cuttle bone never have only ground egg shells !

I have 2 clay dishes!
I would trim it or file it down. Nail cutters or a wooden file. If you're worried about doing it have the vet do it. It's easier to have two people anyway. They tend not to like it and wiggle a lot. But just try it in short sessions.

Yeah, the last time we took her to get her beak trimmed she didn't fight at all. Just accepted it.
I'd like to trim her beak myself. She's very comfortable with me and "trusts" me.
Great, then go for it.
