I have had Kona for a month now and have been noticing that there is something on her marginal scutes. She doesn’t have it anywhere else on her shell. The humidity in her enclosure is around 80-95% at all times. The temperature is at around 80-85 degrees F. Do you think this could be shell rot?image.jpgimage.jpg

The humidity should be 70-80% and basking spot about 90.
It seems to be shell rot.

Humidity at 80-95% is fine, just make sure the top layer of substrate is not extremely wet. Apply the athletes foot cream a few days and that will knock it out. It's not that bad.

she usually sleeps in her flower pot. I will replace the substrate in her pot with something drier.
I use Sphagnum Moss in my hide and I have noticed it becomes super wet after a period of time with the high humidity. I just keep replacing it with new dry Moss about every two weeks.

It's most unusual to have fungus around the carapace and NONE on the plastron.
It might be the very first time I've seen that!.
Thanks for the fungus lesson;)

Very nice smooth Redfoot. Shouldn't be too hard to continue smooth growth with one like that.

My first thought was that it was/is friction wear from something in the enviro. Not having any of it on the bottom makes me thinks that's even more likely than fungus...However not a bad idea to treat anyway just in case.

Interesting thought, I will check to make sure that is not the case. I will keep applying the cream, just to be sure. Thanks.
