New heat lamp feature recommendations

Hello all,
I am sending this in regard to finding the best heat lamp feature for my tortoises vivarium as the last one I had randomly blew yesterday morning, luckily not injuring her and luckily not setting any fires.but did scare me and left both me and my tortoise in a traumatic state
If any one has the vivexotic repti home medium vivarium, if you do please would you give me some recommendations for the ones you use.

No I don’t have any photos but it’s a 1 year and 8 month old western Hermann tortoises

I use ceramic based fixtures purchased at a local hardware store. Like this:


I remove the clamp and hang it from the ceiling. I don't put the little guard wire things on. Don't use the clamp. Those always fail.

Does anyone know why a wire going to the lamp has blown because I am scared to buy a new one with out knowing how it went and if it will go again

If it was the wire itself and not on/off switch or joints, my best guess is that insulation was mechanically damaged and/or the copper wire inside, as well (e.g. because of bending back and forth).

We'd need more info. How and where did it blow? What do you mean by "blow"? Were there sparks? Or did it just stop working?

We have ours on thermostats so do you have a thermostat and a timer?

Yeah there was 5 bangs and the whole vivarium was full of smoke and there were sparks, and somehow the wire was burnt and disconnected. Just glad she was in her house

That is a short. Something shorted the circuit.
