Thank you!Bump that temp up too. Even though its only a couple degrees that is a huge world of difference.
@TortMomma, maybe your baby wants warmer water, too?

This morning my painteds water was nice 77', and ms RES's 79.
I got some super worms and crickets yesterday, and they gobbled up the worms! (but spat out the crickets ) I agree, I don't want them falling into bad habits! Ms RES didn't spend as much time on land today, and more swimming about, this is so nice to know a solution is near!
Where did you get your little guy, for him to need to grow a little more?
I know a lot of turtles reach that same fate, though People can't or don't want to take care of them...Someone left him outside of the pet store I work nights at. Right in front of the door on a chilly night. Along with a note from a child saying they can't care for it anymore. Since it's so small we would never except it at the pet store and can't because we could get fined. So I am caring for it until it's 4inches. I use to have 3 RES' and I find them a pain to feed and house, well when they get bigger. I'm just not a fan of caring for aquatic turtles. Not with the filters and tank cleaning. Since this guy is so little it's not so bad, and thankfully there's just one.
We get so many RES brought to the pet store we are now making a aquatic turtle section with a big pond. So when he's big enough he will have a nice roomy pond to go in while he waits for a home.
My painted turtles are not a fan of greens, but my YBS will gobble them up! I was told that a lot of turtles who top at larger sizes, can become mostly herbivorous... but, since my RESs are not fans either, I guess everyone is different! He can try water hyacinth, I'm trying to grow some, and the turtles go CRAZY for it!My coworker is having a devil of a time getting her adult RES to eat any veggies; do you guys have any tips?
(I figured I'd add to this thread, rather than start a new one, since the topic is similar.)
Awesome! Thank you I upped the water temps, and they are now eating just fine. I must ave had them way too low! Good thing to know, though, because now I'll be checking to make sure it stays in the 70s...How are your turtles doing??
