Hello again Tortoise Friends!
I have an absolutely amazing update for you! As some of you know Gaia has been struggling with multiple issues, anorexia, massive abscess, fungal infiltrate and a huge urolith that has been ever present but has always taken the back burner of more pressing issues.
Her most recent blood work looked bleak an increase in liver values suggesting the beginning of liver failure. I was heartbroken, the bladder stones presence here has directly influenced this causing an increase in Uric acid and dehydration.
The decision was made that it had to go as soon as possible! Unfortunately my clinic does not have all the equipment required to do this and I really didn't have $3000 laying around.
Then the amazing happened!
Her DVM called around to a few surgeons she knew had just been Board Certified and one right up the street from us said he would do the surgery...FOR FREE!
I am elated to say the least! Not only will my girl be getting her stone removed but it will be by a board certified surgeon with state of the art equipment and myself and her DVM will be able to be present during the procedure! I will take lots of pictures for you guys of course! I am entirely besides myself right now!
I hope you all are having a marvelous day! ❤️❤️ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1425509076.574697.jpg

Thats awesome for the doc to do it free . After the surgery get the doctors information so we can give him some free advertisement. Hope everything goes well .

Wow, that is so fantastic. I am so very happy for the both of you. Your vet and the one doing the surgery are very good people it seems. Let them know we thank them too, I'm sure most would agree. You don't see many doing something like this for free and to care enough to put in the effort your vet did. Best wishes with the surgery, hope it's a breeze and recovery is a snap.

Manna from heaven. Tell the good doctors that a community of tortoise lovers thank them! Gaia is a very lucky tortoise to get this help.
Please share all you can with us about what they do and pictures if you can. Knowledge is everything and it will help other keepers in the future.
