Hi! We just received our second enclosure from Animal Plastics. With this one we will be mounting a radiant heat panel inside to the ceiling. Does anyone have any advice with how to go about this? Thank you!

Hold the panel against the ceiling and put the two screws through the panel and into the ceiling. Don't over tighten the screws or you'll easily strip the soft plastic.

Manage the cord with coffee cup holder hooks from the hardware store, or something similar.

Thanks for your reply! I have two more questions. I was wanting to purchase the Vivarium 120 Watt RHP but it seems so be out of stock everywhere. Can anyone recommend another brand? Secondly, for a basking light, I know a lot of the pet store ones are dangerous. I was using an incandescent light in my old enclosure but want to get a new stronger one for this new home as it’s higher, and looking for one that is flat not rounded. Are there any brands that are safe? Would someone provide a link as I’m having a tough time finding what is safe. I do have the little gadget that measures the surface temperature. Thank you!

You'll have to keep looking for the RHP. Have you tried Kapidolofarms.com? Tortoisesupply.com?

You need an incandescent flood bulb for basking. Arcadia and Fluker both sell these.

You don't need the infrared thermometer for this application. Check the basking temperature by laying a digital thermometer on its back at tortoise shell height and letting it cook for an hour or more. Raise or low the bulb to get the temperature around 95-100, or use a different wattage bulb, or use a rheostat to dial in the right temperature.

I checked both sites you suggested. One is out of stock, and the other doesn’t seem to carry them. I will keep looking around. Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. Can anyone tell me if this is acceptable (please see link below). The brand is Sweeter Heater.

I have several of those. The design and mounting system are less than optimal and I prefer the VE type, but those will work and they seem to be safe, effective, and reliable.
