Bubbles

Why do torts emit bubbles during some soaks?
Is it just the water going in them or...?
(May be answered by the above question, but) how does the amount of bubbles differ?
I've noticed some days Franklin pops out a bunch and other days theres hardly any. I've been curious, so here is my question.

Hahaha! Glad you have a sense of humor!! Honestly I don't know what does it. I have 3 baby Sulcatas and they do the same thing. I think you're right though in assuming that it is just air trapped under the ridges along the sides of their shells.

I just finished soaking Franklin and he bubbled almost constantly for 10 minutes. Ok, not constantly, but several bubbles per minute. He likes to move around a lot in his soaks so it probably jumbles the air around in there.

I can absolutely promise you, most if it is not trapped air. I promise. They poot. A lot.

I got pooted on today. I had my little guy in my hand bringing him back inside, he didn't like that idea and he's just getting big enough to really notice his gas passings. He made a very nasty little booty burp in my hand. Before I had only noticed it in soaks, especially right before he goes doody in the water. I use a silicone bulb thing to dribble water on his shell during soaks and to gently blast away caked dirt, I did an experiment and shot a blast of water underneath and blew out all the trapped air. Then he pooted... and pooted.. and pooted. That's just way to much air to come from underneath, and when he does it pulls his head in just a little. That's how you know.

Hahahahaha "booty burp"! Thats a new one! Squirt does this quite often too.. as soon as he gets in his nice warm water then he poops and gets out, he knows when his business is done and goes about the rest of his day.

Ah, Franklin has been nice enough to not poo during his soaks, but he does have access to a water "tub" in his pen and likes to leave presents haha. (he's about 2 years old and we live in north east Ohio, so he stays indoors most of the time).

I agree, booty burp has got to be the best phrase out there!
This is such a fantastic thread, I'm pretty glad I had the curiosity to ask! =P
