My greek tortoise Aggie is about 7in and he's in a 2ftx3ft enclosure, I know he needs a bigger one but I would prefer not to spend $100 or over on a new one when I should be able to build one (possibly, I haven't built anything since tech ed class in highschool 7 years ago...). Does anyone have any pointers? First I need to know where to get cheap wood, I live in Chambersburg, PA (close-ish to Harrisburg); does anyone know of a place to get wood from? I'm also trying to find a different substrate for him to use, I am using reptibark right now but he seems to dig it all up and away from him quite often I don't think he likes the smell of it. My vet had suggested to use carpet squares (carpet that would not have threads coming out of it) and just wash and reuse that, but then he wouldn't have anything to dig through, so any suggestions? Thanks!
