Are the coil type uvb bulbs only bad for tortoises or does this apply to all reptiles?

Most, if not all reptiles. The eye problems found in tortoises are common with bearded dragons and other reptiles.

Ok. I kinda figured. I know someone who just got a bearded dragon for her son. And they have a coil bulb. I used a tube when I had my dragon. But I remember he would just stare up at it sometimes. I will tell her to replace it. Thank you.

The main problem is that a coil bulb was designed to work in a hood where the bulb runs horizontal with the length of the fixture and NOT as a bulb to use in a hood that makes the bulb point downward toward the reptile....so, there is that.
