It's tropical rains today...Dad and I are hanging out under the gazebo as the winds blow the rain bands past. The water is very high in the Chesapeake. My "quiet place" at the bottom of our hill is underwater today.

I was going to dig up some "Tubing pics" but we can wait for Ray's. Can't wait to see how high they launched a grandkid! My grandson attained around 15-20' b/c he only weighed 55lbs(25kg)! I thought I had killed him in front on his parents. I was so happy to hear him cry when he came up after the inevitable slam to the water. WHEW!!

Somehow I don't think Ray will endanger his brood.....as much!

Is it called tubing because they used to use the huge inner tubes of tyres to drag behind boats? I'm sure I've seen that somewhere.

Come to think of it we used to have an adventure park not to far away with a tubing ride but I think it was done on a huge slide rather than water.

I have only tried tubing on snow!

It was also a slide, I wasn't being pulled by anything! It was probably made for tourists and children and we had to wear helmets. It was still fun though

Thank you Ray and everyone for explaining tubing to me - it sounds like great fun. I had imagined people being in a rubber tube and flapping their bodies around to look like seals, or something similar! I've never seen anything like you describe here in the UK, but I probably just don't know where to look.

Tomorrow morning my son Jim,his step brother and I. Will be going on a fishing charter. I am excited since I didn't get to fish much. Since my boat is in the need of a expensive fix. I have all winter to get it fixed for next year.

I have a big birthday coming up next weekend but I have just seen Xmas treats in the shops! Why?

One of the shops in town has aisles and aisles of Halloween stuff out already which I thought was far too early, and then I went into a card shop and they already had Xmas cards out!
Some shops have reduced price Xmas goods until about March so Xmas can be bought for more than half the year ! Spoils it for me.

It's uncomfortably hot here today. Lola has been out but I think it's even too hot for him.
I'm just pottering about the house where it's cooler and watching some of the last Olympic events - the last two weeks have flown by.

I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday

Kinda same here in Finland, though thankfully Halloween still isn't that much of a thing here in Finland. But yes, I personally buy Christmas stuff only in December. It is kinda part of the celebration for me and I think it becomes lame when people start celebrating in October.

Also, the early cards could come in use here, since even though people aren't sending that much snail mail today, our post always struggles around Christmas!
