Good afternoon/evening all. As previously mentioned the weather hasn't been too bad this week, Lola has spent quite a lot of time outside, which is unusual for Oct normally. It's about to change tonight, but it won't be as bad as the cyclone on its way to Florida though so can't complain.
I've had a busy week tidying the garden and running to and from the tip. I wish I could just throw things away instead of thinking they may be needed and hanging on to stuff, it all goes eventually so I don't know why I can't be more ruthless. I think I grew up in a home where nothing went to waste, and it's stayed with me. Plus I'm also bordering on obsessive when it comes to recycling.
Never mind - I'd rather be like me than wasteful. I've also had a few get togethers with family and friends so the week has flown by.

The neighbours have started their winter cleaning in their garden which means more bleach flooding the lane in spite of me sat out there painting my fence and telling them about the hedgehogs. I've collected the dead worms out of their way, they need lots as they fatten up for hibernation, and eating those could be very harmful to them. Nature and I are fighting a losing battle against ignorance like that.
I hope everyone has had a good week - looks like all the travellers back home safely. Anyone planning other trips?
I'd better go and make some food for myself so I'll see you later. TTFN

Yup, the bear was roadkill.
The surprise at seeing a bear probably caused the odd description C. We don't mount trophies here as they reflect past peaks in life, not the current one!

Ray, you can talk all you want about your bike. We want you to be happy with it all! That's the whole goal!
For everyone else....Kerry and I dropped off a vintage motorcycle in need of restoration for Ray and the signed Title.
We also included a bin of very high quality original replacement tank, sidecovers, forks ears currated from eBay over the years and a box of old and used tools so he can at least, begin to "putter" with it.

We put all that stuff in Rays garage then we ran away before he could realize all the stuff he had.

It's perfect....i needed the space, you had the interest and space. I don't envy any part of what it takes for you to mess with it all but my respect for you as a human being is unparalleled, period. Dealt your cards, I wouldn't come close...and few would.

I do think that I'm the one who really lucked out though. Think about it....for the cost of a single night at a hotel, we got the experience of a lifetime.

Ray, your bike was the 4th I've given away in as many years....it wasn't the first....but it was damn sure was the most fun! I am thankful for the opportunity life gave me....im glad I didn't hesitate!

You and Kerry really came thru. With the delivery of Ms.Sully and the motorcycle. I am grateful for being able to restore the bike. That was the motorcycle all of us teenage boys wanted when they came out. Ok Jeff have fun with that last sentence.
We got rid of the weight machine to the neighbors. One garage sale and I will have the garage back. With the money made from the garage sale. I will put it towards a motorcycle lift table. That will make life easier for me. Need to wait for the weather to cool down a little. Before we have a garage sale. But with the weight machine gone. I can start taking apart the upper part of the bike. Jeff I decided to take it down to the frame. I might have been leary about doing that in my condition. But my neighbor is the guru on 70's motorcycles. So if I get in a jam he will help. I have tore down quite a few bikes back in the day. When visegrips were the best tool you had in the box.

I am not liking this one. Ms. Sully and Opo might be staying in the house or at least the garage for this one.

Looks like sleepless nights until I get better info on the tropical storm Milton. It is coming from the gulf and we are on the other side of the state. But if it hits as a category 3 or above. We won't fair much better than the gulf side. As the projections are now. The strong side of the storm will hit us. That means the high winds will be hitting the back of my house. Of course that's where Ms.Sully and Opo are. I have learned to watch the barometric pressure. When the pressure gets into the lower 900 millibars. You know your in trouble. Plus the speed the storm is moving at. Slower storm more rain and wind damage.
For some reason this one is giving me butterflies in my gut.
The high school is about a quarter mile down the road. It is used as a shelter. With my need for oxygen, if the storm is to bad. We will go to the shelter.

Is Lola still eating? Jacky stopped for a few days and then yesterday she ate some grass. This is normal for her as she stopped eating and then started again for several before finally stopping!

I don't know where this obsession with bleach has come from. The whole garden has been paved for years, with a strip of fake grass along the end of it added in recent years any; plants are in pots. When her children were young she wasn't so fussy - at one time practically every paving slab had a dollop of dog mess in it (I counted over 20) and one dog used to jump on to their trampoline to do his business and that was also left for days or even weeks. They have a soak away drain across the whole width of the garden but rather than direct the foamy water towards that she hoses under the gate into the lane. Her husband is as bad.
They lifted the 'grass' yesterday and washed the concrete under it, which flooded the lane. I rescued as many worms as I could find but I know its only a matter of time before she puts it back, washes the plastic and does the same again. I politely asked her not to do it last spring and told her about the hogs, frogs and newts that were in the lane and I even delivered leaflets to all neighbours from the BHPS telling them about the hedgehogs in the street and warning about potential dangers to them, but they don't care.
I hope the hedgehogs wouldn't eat the worms but you never know. I don't feed meal worms because I'm sure I read they aren't good for them - at least the dried ones. Maybe live meal worms would be OK - I'll check. I feed them dried kitten biscuits, but they spend most of the night sniffing out the worms and snails, in my garden. I think I'm only one of 2 gardens that isn't paved in my row which is why I'm so popular with hedgehogs. All are welcome here!

Not their garden - they hose it out into the lane which runs across the end of my garden but it does soak through onto my land under the fence. It would be just as easy to push it down their drain - I honestly think they only do it to wind me up.

Lola is a leopard which isn't a hibernating species, so he eats all winter through. He does eat slightly less during winter and spends more time in his hide, but at the moment he is still eating like a horse! I'm quite glad he doesn't hibernate as I would be worrying too much about whether he was OK.
According to a vet I saw when Lola first adopted me, leopards are sometimes dumped because of the cost of heating and feeding them all year around. I think that's what happened to Lola.
Sounds like Jacky is winding down ready for her winter snooze.

Good morning afternoon all.
It's pouring down here at the moment! I'm stuck in the house today which isn't a bad thing as one of my knees is quite painful and swollen so it gives me a good chance to rest it. I was at the hospital a couple of weeks ago saying how great my knee had been since my arthroscopy on it in 2022 (took them 2 years to send me a follow up appointment ) and then suddenly it's playing up - typical . At least I can contact them again if it doesn't settle down.
