Lola is a leopard which isn't a hibernating species, so he eats all winter through. He does eat slightly less during winter and spends more time in his hide, but at the moment he is still eating like a horse! I'm quite glad he doesn't hibernate as I would be worrying too much about whether he was OK.
According to a vet I saw when Lola first adopted me, leopards are sometimes dumped because of the cost of heating and feeding them all year around. I think that's what happened to Lola.
Sounds like Jacky is winding down ready for her winter snooze.
She was eating today but I'm gradually winding her down. I'm sorry you have to put up with those neighbours. I hope Lola is well away from them.

I don't know where this obsession with bleach has come from. The whole garden has been paved for years, with a strip of fake grass along the end of it added in recent years any; plants are in pots. When her children were young she wasn't so fussy - at one time practically every paving slab had a dollop of dog mess in it (I counted over 20) and one dog used to jump on to their trampoline to do his business and that was also left for days or even weeks. They have a soak away drain across the whole width of the garden but rather than direct the foamy water towards that she hoses under the gate into the lane. Her husband is as bad.
They lifted the 'grass' yesterday and washed the concrete under it, which flooded the lane. I rescued as many worms as I could find but I know its only a matter of time before she puts it back, washes the plastic and does the same again. I politely asked her not to do it last spring and told her about the hogs, frogs and newts that were in the lane and I even delivered leaflets to all neighbours from the BHPS telling them about the hedgehogs in the street and warning about potential dangers to them, but they don't care.
I hope the hedgehogs wouldn't eat the worms but you never know. I don't feed meal worms because I'm sure I read they aren't good for them - at least the dried ones. Maybe live meal worms would be OK - I'll check. I feed them dried kitten biscuits, but they spend most of the night sniffing out the worms and snails, in my garden. I think I'm only one of 2 gardens that isn't paved in my row which is why I'm so popular with hedgehogs. All are welcome here!
That sounds really ridiculous - I'm so sorry! We get live mealworms regularly for our semi-tame robin and his family - I wouldn't have thought they would be bad for hedgehogs, but they are quite expensive. Of course, there is the problem that the worms wouldn't stay in one place for long !

Eating is the bit that would worry me. Making sure their stomachs don't have anything that could turn toxic left in them. I suppose that after all this time that you're used to it though.

I'll try some, but I'll probably end up feeling sorry for them and let them go to take their chances. 🤗

I'm not sure but I don't think animals as a rule eat things bad for them. They just seem to know.

Ray, I applaud your decision to do a frame up restoration. I didn't know there were any dents in any of the extra stuff...sorry.

Lyn, I have had 16 scope jobs and 2 acl reconstructions. ALL to my left knee....im left handed too. I truly understand that aching....i have had a bone-on-bone situation for 15 yrs. I can be more accurate with high and low pressures than the Weatherman!! I never baby it even when it gets tweeky. It's not the end of the world as my recent nerve pain in my shoulder showed me! THAT WAS! LOL

Home at the Nook. A racoon came on the deck yesterday evening while I was reading.. I thought it was a squirrel at first as he came into my peripheral. I could have pet him! Not good...Rocky needs to stay in the woods during the day. He was taught accordingly! LOL

Today is clean the car day from our trip...

Sad Report. 😫😢

On the way back from a quick trip to where I volunteer with the Smithsonian, I spotted a half-dollar sized probable Box Turtle just getting onto the road 😩. In traffic, it took me a bit to turn around and get back for a quick rescue. But the traffic daemons won. In the few minutes it took for a U-turn, the poor baby had been hit.
Sad moments 😭😢🥺😩

Yes I'm well used to it and it's so lovely to see Jacky emerge although I think of Daisy (1942 - 2022). She used to go in later and come out first.

No problem Jeff, the dents in the tank are very minor. Actually hard to see the dents. Maybe the size of a nickel but you have to get at the proper angle to see them.
I had the wind direction wrong with the hurricane. We will be on the dirty side of the storm. So that will bring the wind direction from the south. My house faces south. So that is a better situation for us. I text before the winds would hit the back of the house. That is where the tortoises are. So depending on the strength of the hurricane. Will determine if they get locked in their night boxes or go in the garage. It will be less stressful if Ms.Sully and Opo stay in their night boxes.

A perfect sunny Sunday. We are out in the garden trying to tidy things up after two weeks of rain. Cutting back bushes, cutting the lawn. Low to mid-80’s.

Hey Ray/Jeff. Such perfect timing with “the big move”. Our overnight lows now are starting to feel Autumnal.

Sounds like the move of Ms.Sully was just in time. We are getting in the mid 70's and muggy at night.

Not their garden - they hose it out into the lane which runs across the end of my garden but it does soak through onto my land under the fence. It would be just as easy to push it down their drain - I honestly think they only do it to wind me up.
They must be very ignorant and selfish .

The temp of the spa by the time I did my plunge was 70.0. Water always feels fresh 😀
"Nuts"

"Fresh" to Mark= FREEZING to Jeff
I do have to thank you Mark for flushing out all that nasty rain away before we got home. It has been spectacular out!

We don't choose our neighbors but maybe we should? Our neighbor across the street is moving in with her Dad. The home was rented so we don't know who will move in but I've never had bad neighbors.....for long! I come from the "School of Ray" when it comes to bad neighbors! Lol

Hurricane continues to develop!View attachment 380555
As of now it looks like a category 1 or 2 diminishing. Been there done that, so we should be ok. What worries me is if we lose electricity. With all the damage from the last hurricane. All the resources to restore power a have their hands full. The strong winds will hit the front of my house. So Ms.Sully and Opo should be good. Their enclosures are close to the back of the house. The last post I did about the hurricane. I had my direction turned around. I thought the strong winds were hitting the back side of the house. Front of the house better. The temps are still in the upper 70's. So if we lose power,I have a stock of hand warmers. So those will help Ms.Sully and Opo stay warm.
