The possums here never get a chance with all the squirrels here all day long. Every once in a while they will convince a bird to feed them from the feeders. It's very intentional but I don't know the motivation for the birds.

Birds and squirrel tracks...
I think my sparrows have a conspiracy going on.😉. They expect me to feed the whole wide world so they toss seed every where. But I can't have my pretty birds with out them sooo...

Good evening everyone!

Just letting you know that my friend's Xmas present which I thought had been taken by the noisy neighbour has turned up. The postman accidentally took it back to the sorting office instead of leaving it at the post office.

Cathy, please see:
My 1st wife used to vacation in Cape Town from Johannesburg. I think "The Last Green" was his screen name. I liked the guy...but I don't know why he left. He used to post some nice tort pics from his back yard!
You do realize this same conversation occurred a few weeks ago right? LOL....it's cool, I have those moments now with alarming frequency!

The kid across the street came over with homemade choc chip bread his girlfriend made. There are 4 kids in their 20's. A brother and sister escaping a drug addicted mom and their boy and girlfriends. They are very nice to us and Kerry is like their mom. The girlfriend even sent over a treat for me to burn on the porch! THAT is a good neighbor! LOL

Anyway, they wanted to be sure we were ready for the upcoming snowstorm and I think he was relieved when we told him to bring everyone over if the power goes out. I have a generator that I test ran today and mounted the electrical box inside its housing and ran the cable into the garage so if I do need it, I can wire it in 10 minutes. We also have a gas fireplace....and a 500gal tank! I think we're good.

I think that she must have been around before my time here. I don't remember her.

I have decided to cut down on the feeders this year. We have a programme on TV this week called Winter Watch, and they were saying how feeders can be responsible for killing birds by passing on viruses and bacteria. Millions of finch species have died because of things like avian flu and some other bacteria. The RSPB has stopped selling bird tables because they are the worst culprits and they have also been investigating the decline in some species to try to find out what is going on.
I clean my feeders regularly, sweep up any dropped seeds and scrub the ground every evening but it's still risky. So I'm going to find plants that birds would feed on in the wild and use those in the garden. I won't just stop suddenly because my sparrows wait every morning for me to put the feeders but I will gradually phase them out and meanwhile increase the cleaning. I'm going to need a bigger garden!

Yes she may have been here before you. She was one of the original ladies here in the cdr. I'm glad you have good young neighbors. Two thirds of the people in the US are about to go through a big winter storm... if the weather men are reading the radars correctly 🤗🙏 they just need glasses 🕶️ 🤓 and are wrong again 🤞

I use a seed block feeder and a bird feeder with woodpecker seed in both of them. I don't know if the feeders would spread Avion flue but I doubt it. However they are all feeding in the same area.🤔 But that's what they do. They're all exposed to it anyway. So I think I'm going to keep giving them food to help them. If they don't have help with the storm that's coming here soon even the healthy ones will have a hard time. So I think I'll just keep trying to help them with extra food. I do have a lot of plants for birds also. One is my monster Crab Apple tree 🙃
