Currently (i am revamping our chelonian diets), ours get frozen-thawed capelin fish & sliversides with thiamine E paste added 1x a week, and whatever live fry and shiners they want to catch already present in the pond.

They are adults.
On the past i have given the occasional
Ghost shrimp, craw fish and but bait fish in their water....but never with these guys.
Any objections? ?

...also, where do you get thiamine E paste and how/why do you offer iy?

the pellets are zoomed natural growth pellets. Terry and Melissa eat them. They also eat grass shrimp, zoomed sun dried shrimp (which are marine shrimp), table shrimp, scallops, mussels (in shell), oysters, regina clams, hard and soft clams, blood worms (polychaets) like those used for fishing, blue crabs, mud or wharf crabs, snails, fiddler crabs, silversides, and tetra jumbo cichlid sticks.

Do you go to a fish market and feed live crabs, clams, mussels ? Do they ever get hurt?

Do you feed In another tub? And how long did it take for them to get used to that if you do?

i have been cautioned in the past about crayfish due to high bacteria levels-not sure if the bacteria is actually a health issue with the crayfish themselves or packaging. For this reason, our dbts do not get this, but the otters love 'em!

Some of the stuff does come from the market but some I catch. Most are live though they also get frozen. I feed in their tank I find it stresses them less then moving them, plus the shells become part of the substrate after I clean them unless eaten. Though I suppose the eaten bits do too.

Mine will eat coastal plains crayfish which around my house are brackish water crayfish. I've never had problems. My est eats them as well though he gets them more often than the terrapins.
