Hi, I just acquired two young desert tortoises that are 16 months old. They do not live out side yet but that is the plan I hope. I live on the Central Coast in California. Will they do ok here we are close to the ocean. Right now they are in a aquarium with Eco Earth substrate made by Zoo Med. They are being fed leafy greens, with miner-all sprinkled on it. They also have a hide box, warming lamp and flourescent light. Am I doing ok? Any advise I will take. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum, 65!

The tortoises should be fine if you keep them warm and hydrated.

welcome......got pics?? I'm intrigued by this species....here in Utah they have an adoption program but it requires a lot of preparation before they will allow you to adopt but it's a free adoption if you don't factor the money spent preparing for them...I am very excited to see what your new babies look like.

Here is a pic of my torts. Let me know what you think they are? I have them in a reptile glass tank. Will they be ok. They have been in one from the get go.
