This is the view that greeted me when I opened the Leopard tortoises' shed this a.m.:
I don't know what she thought she was doing up there. Notice her lo-o-o-ong back toe nails. She's the mother of most of the babies born here, and she needs those toenails to dig though our very hard clay soil.
A school teacher in Ohio came back to school after the week-end and found this tortoise in a cardboard box outside her classroom. The box also contained a bunch of cut up green apples. She kept the tortoise until the end of the school year, then she and her fiance DROVE here from Cincinnati and brought me the tortoise. (She found me on the 'net) She was still growing when I got her, so I estimated her age at about 10yrs. And I've had her about 5 years.
I guess she really liked my web site! No...I usually show up on the first page during a search, and the weather here is such that a lot of folks like to bring me their tortoises.
