Hey I have a 2year old Hermann tortoise and his shell seems too be a bit more bumpy than the other tortoises I have seen. Can somebody please tell me if it is normal??? (•‿•)
No, the tortoise's carapace should be smooth. The reason for the bumpiness (called pyramiding) is due to the fact that Fred was raised in a dry environment during his first year of life. There's nothing you can do now to smooth him out, but rest assured, it's merely cosmetic and is not causing him any harm.
