hello there my friends...
after serious thought...
i will be purchasing a redfoot here soon...
i know i need to keep it moist....
so if you guys dont mind...
tell me on how to keep them...
i am experienced on box turtles...
so treat me like a total newbie and give me all the advice you need to so my new tort will live a long and healthy life

and yes i am sure i want a red foot...i even have a name for it...lol

i will wait anxiously for all your advice...
i already have a tortoise enclosure and a mercury vapor bulb..i guess i will be better off using a heat emmiter bulb...versus a regular red heat bulb...

so hope to hear from all of you

A ceramic heat emitter has worked well for me. In general, I've mostly used the info from turtletary with a few tweaks.

I'm sure the more experienced users will have some advice for you shortly :)

Best wishes on the new guy (or gal)!

For some odd reason, I really like the stuff on http://www.tortoiselibrary.com but there are many good sites. The Library even has a list of several good sites at http://www.tortoiselibrary.com/helpfullinks.html

Red-foots are a lot like Eastern Box Turtles in many ways- similar diets, similar housing and humidity needs; although higher overall temps, and more space since they get a lot larger.

Ceramic heat emitters are generally a good choice. Depending on where you live, you may find it helpful to mostly cover the habitat to help hold heat an humidity inside it.
