Wow what a big size difference!! They are both beautiful.
64 g seems really small! Has he gained a good amount of weight since you got him?

Sorry to hear about Leo #3 :( How did he die?

Beautiful little tortoises. I am starting to really like the look of leos.

This positive comment has no place in this thread, get out!
;)

I would also like to add that I was not aware that they were different subspecies...apparently I can't read :p

Nelson has two siblings that hatched on/near the same date as him, and in early pictures they always looked smaller than him.
I didn't know that hatchlings could vary in size so much, as your pic shows Paul.

Genetics says otherwise. Remember there are northern populations that get just as large as southern populations.

My pardalis are growing nearly 4x as fast as the babcocks, I'll bet you $1.99 that it's a subspecies thing.

Very true EJ, but my babcocki (the one's I was referring to) are not of the northern populations as best I can tell.

These two hatchlings just hatched 2 days ago and have been in the incubator absorbing yolk sacks. I took them out today to soak them for the first time when I noticed their extreme size difference and thought, that big one must be Bullying that little one. Learn something everyday. :)

Egg 1 to Egg 2: "When we get out of here, I'm gonna kick your a**."

Egg 2 to Egg 1: "Bring it."

Egg 1 to Egg 2: "Oh, you did not."
