That is the wrong stuff. We talk about orchid bark but it is not this. Please remove your tortoise from it and clean all items. I am not in USA but either search orchid bark for reptiles or wait for a USA person who know local suppliers that you can use.

Hello, I can’t find the ones toms recommended I’m in California I have Home Depot and lowes near me which do I get?

You can't find it at the big chain hardware stores. You have to go to a nursery and ask for plain fine grade orchid bark. AKA: fir bark. No other additives. Not a "mix". If you can't fid it, you can get "Repti-bark" at Petco or on Chewy.com.
