Not sure wether it's fertile though...
Homes hingebacks require a diapause before incubation. This means you do not incubate straight away. You leave the egg for 4 to 6 wks at room temperature then start incubating. It's to imitate the natural environment. In the wild they lay the eggs in rainy season, as the temperature warms up after rain they will start to incubate. This is what you are aiming to copy.
Where did you get this tort from. Was it wild caught?

So I just leave the egg on the coir? The pet shop person said it is imported, so I am not too sure.

Put it in coir, I'd put spaghnum moss on top of it, but if you haven't got any just use coco. Put the tub in room away from lights and windows.
Just write down the date on a bit of paper so you can keep track of time.

Should the coir be moist?

Keep an eye on her over the next few weeks. She may lay another(s)
I had one that layed an egg whilst in transit to my house, about 2 wks later she laid another.

Great! Should the coir be dry or moist?

Tortadise and Jacqui will tell you exactly what to do with it later.
Dont turn the egg over. You should keep the egg the same way up at all times. Dont worry if you have already turned it, but don't do it again.

Do s search on here on. 'Candling eggs). At it will explain what to look for. I've never had a fertile egg, so its newcto me. You won't be able to tell until about 2 wks into incubation I think.
How is your outdoor enclosure coming on?
