Hello,

I received 2 leos app. a month ago and I have completely fallen in love with them. I have been reading a lot about them and I got completely obsessed with the issue of pyramiding. I can easily deal with the food issue, the UVB light is not a problem, but creating a humidity chamber on an open table was a challenge. I think have finally found a solution.

I have a heated pad on the bottom of the cage, on top I have wet spagnum moss (I add warm water to it in the morning) and I have added a radiated heat panel on top. I have also added vineleaves on the sides (which normally hang down to the ground) but for the sake of the picture I have pulled them up a little. The temp is constant at 96 degrees and the humidity is 100%. The torts love it in there.

The humid hide is on the top right of the picture (the mezzanine).

As long as they spend more time in the higher humidity area then not it should work. Looks nice. I would get a larger water dish though. That one looks pretty small. They should be able to get in it and soak and still be able to put their head into the water. Also, if it doesn't seem to be working I would cover the whole enclosure with a sheet of plastic. Kinda like a circus tent over it.

yeah, they love the hideout. They spend most of the night there as well! and thanks for the tip on the waterdish, although they fit in there. At least one at a time. But will get them a bigger one. They are growing fast, 1 gram a day.

Regards

Juliette

That is a perfect balance...see, torts not only need access to warm and humid but they also need a space to dry out in order to keep their shells in good health....I think you have worked out an absolutely lovely and functional space...again, some may not agree but I do love it...:D
