I received a surrendered pancake tortoise a few weeks ago with severely infected feet with its toenails beginning to fall out.

The vet recommended 14 days of Baytril shots ( he definitely did not like that) and 20 min soaks in Clorohexidine solution and then some silver sulfadiazine cream on top.

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this before? I was thinking it may be a prominent case in arid that are kept in too humid of substrate.

Yep. This seems to be common in them when kept on improper substrate. Sounds like the vet recomended a good treatment. Decomposed granite is a great substrate for pancakes. Hope it gets better.

Thanks!! He is doing great. All infection is gone and toe nails are starting to emerge. Kinda wish he was a female after I found out I bought 2 males lol
