?Why am I blocked from you?
You mean like there are people who would actually do it? For 6 pack? And how do you mean "good story"? Sorry for my ignorance but you see I've been leading quite a boring life for past couple of decades. Greatest excitement is when my twins pick up their backpacks from the floorMore positive thoughts for you. Maybe post on CL and see if anyone wants to come stake out the garden with their game cameras. Offer a 6 pack and a good story.![]()
From Ed, right? Not from me?Why am I blocked from you?
I don't know about climbing like really high, but my babies love uneven terrain, so much so that I had to create hills and dips in their tank, they love going all over those, up and down. If you had the garden edging in mind, after watching Shellie (the other baby) negotiate it ... I can see how Tucker could have done it too...we are supposed have a freeze tonight. I've had those 150 another100 watts bulbs over that one area where I piled bunch of cut down vegetation and dug in couple of clay pots with soft moss underneath just like Tucker would like to have. Food and water dish, other little "lures" in that area... Still... no sign of this baby. My husband asked me how much longer I was going to run those bulbs/wasting energy... And I honestly don't have the answer to that questionnot for nothing but my red foot is not much of a climber
Yes. Sorry. I had to reset my preferences. From Ed, right? Not from me?
Have you been placing them in the same spot every day? If he were at like two o clock and the heat was at say 7. It would go unnoticed. I'd rotate the lighting across a larger portion of the bed. If it is cool or cold, he would stay hunkered down during the day AND the night. (You'd have to come closer to him.)I don't know about climbing like really high, but my babies love uneven terrain, so much so that I had to create hills and dips in their tank, they love going all over those, up and down. Silly question time.View attachment 164181View attachment 164182 it's not that big! Initially I thought he wouldn't have been able to climb over the edging but guess what? Shellie did! So this opens things up to the entire world!
Good point! It crossed my mind but not enough to actually go with it. I'll try to move it aroundHave you been placing them in the same spot every day? I checked most, but dismissed some as "too hard to dig in", or "he couldn't have climbed this high" etc... But I'll start looking everywhere. Thank you for thatSilly question time.
Have you checked all up against that wall at the back and around the tree, move the pots from near tree and check. On the left hand side of those steps. Even in the garage if you leave the door open at times.
All around those boarders would be a good place to dig in.
Thanks Guys! Your support means a lot to me. I've been going over places where soil is not compacted and moving that soil around on my hand and knees. I have cut most of the green perennials dow to the ground level to have better visibility, pulled tons of seedlings of sprouting flowers that self saw in that area (was really sad to do that!), put out clay pots in few places with his favorite treats, and made a "nest" of thick bed of cut down vegetation, with 150 + 60 (or is it 75?) watt CHE right above it. View attachment 164175View attachment 164176The red heating bulb is his favorite, he'd always go sit under that one. I got much stronger one for this. It's been windy and this nest has no protection from the top and sides. I suspended the lights on the make shift "scaffolding" (used wooden hinged trellis). I was thinking of The temps are supposed to drop to almost freezing tonight. View attachment 164177 and I know, I know! I'm crazy! but there is fresh water and food dish there too which so far have not been touched Any other ideas/suggestions? Gosh! I want him home so bad! And before it gets cold!
Good God! How ai needed to hear those words of encouragement today! Thank you! The red light is on during a day. Last few days have been cool and windy here. There is plenty of food for him around. I just worry about the cold and neighborhood dogs. I appreciate your kind words.Omg, is this your flower bed/garden? He's hiding somewhere close!!! He has not wondered off too far. I just know it! what you need to do is have a few people help you and take that garden apart piece by piece. He's in a near by cover of sorts. The heat at night is a great idea, only I wouldn't have a light on since their nature would want to hid in darkness so as not to be seen. You may even make a pile of leaves under the CHE, then check first thing the next morning, every morning. I will pray he gets back to you safely.
No, Danny! Have not! It's making me crazy! Everyone around has lost interest in the search. You know, this has become an "old news" and people like that "instant gratification" thing. I am not ready to give up hope yet. And apparently at least few of my TFO friends aren't giving up yet either! So there! Thank you for encouraging me to keep goingOmg that's so crazy you haven't found him.it makes me sad that you haven't found him yet.but keep your head up I really do believe you'll find him just takes time for him to pop up somewhere
I've been in those neighbor's hedges, and my own, and my 3 car garage I did 1/2a$$ search there's so much crap there some of which is hard to move... I know! He could be ANYWHERE!!! I joined the neighborhood site Nextdoor (there's even app for that) and posted on it, on fb sites, most of joggers and dog walkers in this area know about Tucker missing and they all know now the difference between our pond (have several ponds here) turtles (red ear sliders) and tropical tortoise species.... I have to admit, they all seem very interested in the subject while I have their attention, but in reality once they turn back to their own stuff, unless Tucker gets in front of someone's nose I'm not holding lots of hope in solidarity in search efforts. Even my own family seems to have the "search fatigue" by now. Morning is the worst time of a day for me. I have just not able to jump outside at daybreak to start looking around. I too have this nagging feeling that Tucker is somewhere really near and I just can't see him. It drives me crazy! It makes me sick inside when I hear the wind hauling when I know temp is in low 40's... I don't know how if he made it through those last few cold night we had. He was totally not equipped to deal with such low temps and our soil is either dense compact clay or limestone that's impossible to dig in even if he wanted. I'll keep looking for him. I am not ready to give up. This is making me rethink my outdoor enclosure concept... I just can't go through this self imposed anxiety and heartache ever again. Thank you for your thoughts, ideas, and support. It means so much to me!Looking at a larger pic of the flower bed, I noticed your neighbor's hedges. Can you ask your neighbor if you can check them out? Also, I noticed you have a two car garage. Have you looked in here? Don't give up hope. He's out there waiting to be found. Just don't let anyone or anything get you depressed so as to stop the search. You do have your family to take care of, but with every spare minute you have keep looking in he root system of your garden an hedges around nearby. I feel you'll find him soon.
Thinking of you both, I know I wouldn't able to give up yet either. Thanks Lyn! Yes, I wish you were closer as well, but having your spiritual support is second best. Thank youThinking of you both, I know I wouldn't able to give up yet either. Wish I was closer to help.
