I'm liking this thread. I might have to end up doing something like this for my tortoises if I don't get my house :)

Wow! I would love to have that off my bedroom. I think it's going to look great and your tortie's will love it. More plants.....for some shade and hiding.

Awww.. Redfoots are so cute... they may be my next Torti investment! BTW I'm taking credit for Torti!

Well, this morning I went shopping. I bought two bags of soil (80 litres each) and some plants that tortoises are safe to eat :)

I also found some bricks that I could use, and some wood chips too.

Please, tell me what you think, I'm open to suggestions! :D

This is what I have so far. I still have another bag of soil that I want to use. I will also put some pebbles around the wood chips, I think it will look nice!

And here's a close-up of the plants and one hide-out!

Hope you like it! :D

love it!

You live in the coolest house ever to have this outside you're bedroom!
Good idea with the tarp for easy clean up, I pretty much love this whole idea! Very pretty so far, and can only image getting better. Very lucky tortoises.

I'm so HAPPY for all the things you said! I'm very proud of myself for doing this, and it's becoming very beautiful in my opinion too :D

I'll do some more work today, and hopefully end it up, because THEY ARRIVE TODAY *.* they only arrive at night, but nonetheless I'm thrilled and just can't wait!

Don't worry, because I will put pics of all my hard work here! :D

can't say this enough times: LOVE IT HERE in this forum! <3

Well, here is what I've done today! I think it is finished, but I think I might add things as the time passes!

They are arriving, 2:00 hours left! :D

The left side of the balcony with the soil all spread

When I get them, I will post photos of them so you can see them! :D Their previous owner wasn't sure about the specie, so I wanted to ask your opinion later!

WOW! This turned out great! Thanks for posting this. It gives me some ideas, since I want to do something similar in the future. It's a great way for people who don't have a graden. :)

I received the tortoises a while ago, and I was conned. They are turtles, and illegal here in Portugal :(

I'm so sad, I was so excited about getting them, and he conned me. Can't even say how sad I am :x

hmmm... Sounds like someone sold 'red-ears' as 'red foots'... I hope you are able to resolve the issue with the vendor. Remember, whoever it was broke the law. They probably don't want to face the penalty and may return your hard-earned escudos (now Euros).

You've done a great job with your enclosure so far. Don't let a dishonest vendor stop you...

Now I understand why you are so upset with the turtles you received, all of that time and effort you put into the enclosure and then you get the wrong type of tortoises.

I don't know what to do right now, but my brother already said that he would offer me a testudo horsfieldii if I really wanted one.

I'm still very sad and disappointed, I don't know if I want to get myself into one of this thing again :s
