I purchased two Sully's for my son a few weeks back. As part of his responsibly for raising the new additions, I suggested that he research as much as he can to help educate him on tortoise care. This site is fantastic! What a great bunch of knowledgeable and friendly care givers.
Happy Memorial Day

Largest container I could find. 80 gallon I think(38X20x20) We put in two burrows made from large river rock stones. Substrate is Zilla jungle mix, sphagnum, and soil mix. Two Zilla Reptile lights(T-18, 50UV)and 150watt basking light.
Following Coopers(the giant sully)feeding process. Chopped assorted greens twice daily, and calcium 4 times a week. They get bathed everyday for 15 min, and outside time three times a week. Will move them to an outside habitat soon.
They eat all the time! Lol

Welcome to the forum! Sulcatas are great animals. Glad you've found the forum. What made you decide on sulcatas?

Thank you. My son loves the way they look. Lol
We have plenty of room outside, and four large hay pastures they can graze in once they get larger

How old is your son, if you don't mind me asking. That's great that you have a lot of room for when they outgrow their tank. They are about 4-6 weeks old? If you click on my profile you can see the growth rate of my sulcata dexter. Dexter is now 14 months young. Remember that they all grow differently!

He is nine, almost 10. He is responsible, and around and cares for cattle, horses, dogs etc. I think 5 weeks old.

That is a great indoor set up for hatchlings. Really nice. I would still add a terra cotta saucer for drinking.

It looks so nice right now. I wonder what it will look like in a couple of months... :)

Thank you Tom. Adding saucer for water as suggested.

Very nice looking enclosure! It would be very exciting to see them down the road. Are you planning on keeping track of their growth rates?
