She was soaking in my tortoises water bowl when I went to refresh it this afternoon. I guess I know how all those baby sliders have been getting in now. Oddly, none of the tortoises minded her, or else they just didn't even see her? In any event this is not what I was expecting to see in my tortoise pen! Fortunately she looked healthy and free of mites...

Very cool photo. Love the reflection of the tree in the water with your turtle.

Does she get to stay?

No, we live in perfectly happy safe habitat for her. She likely came up to nest, how she breeched the tortoise fence I am not sure! I put her back on the bank so she could find her way to freedom and she graciously thanked me by releasing a wave of nervous urine on my toes. : )

My next-door Neibor came to my house the other day with what he thought was one of my tortoises that got away... it was on of these Red-eared Sliders(?) and it was about 8" long. The creek behind our HOA is drying up and they are looking for more water. I took him to a small Damned Creek that holds about 8 feet of water and never drys out. I fished one out of my HOA swimming Pool last Summer for the same reason!
