Opo decided to sleep outside last night. Made for a sleepless night for me. Which is pretty much normal for me anyway.
He slept behind the shed. Where I don't have a security camera. So I kept going outside to check on him.

Oh nooooo Ray!!!!
That’s awful!
I would have kicked his butt when he DID come inside.
Now… I know this sounds crazy…
But you know what makes my girl move like she’s being chased by the po-po???….
If you get a black garbage bag…
Open it up and …crinkle the sh** out of it.!
Do this till you see him come out of hiding at least…
Do not ask me how or WHY this makes my Sulcata tortoise move so quickly but it does!
Try it just once while Opo is sitting relaxing quietly. You will see him move like a rocket as soon as he hears a plastic bag being shuffled around.

So your telling me that Opo can hear, there are many that say Tortoise can't hear. My Sammy hears every noise and will react.

I guess Opo notices my voice vibrations. I can call him from across the yard. He will stop walking away from me. A few more calls and he turns towards me. When he sees me he will come to me. If he is walking out of the porch samething happens. Even if I call him on the security camera he will stop walking. So I don't think they hear like humans. But pick up familiar vibrations.

I think with snake plants you have to eat a larger quantati for it to be dangerous, but I didn't know some list it as toxic. Here is the tortoise table for example: "Sansevierias are not toxic, but they have very fibrous leaves that might not appeal to many tortoises. Some sources say that the Mother-in-law's Tongue contains saponins, but they are not toxic as such, and no harm will come to a tortoise if the odd leaf is nibbled, or if fed as part of a wider, more varied diet."

I have a huge sansoveria plant next to Edwards enclosure, but there is a screen lid between Edward and the plant. I haven't been worried about him somehow getting too much of the plant.

By the way, here in Finland, those igloos are mainly sold for cows and sheep, but Opo sure is a large grazer at heart.

Those igloos must have some size to them.
