First, and maybe this is just my novice eye, but these do not appear to be Sulcatas to me.

Second... Ugh, just look at those shells. :( At least they're outside... So hopefully they're healthier than the shells (and mistaken identity) imply...

Those definitely look like CDTs to me too. Shame they want $400 for them - they oughta pay someone to go pick them up!
I'm local, here in Redlands, and can temporarily house them, if needed.

They can't legally sell them. Maybe someone should notify them of the species and legalities.

I just did.
I text them about the pictured torts looking like CDT and if they are it's illegal to sell them. That they could be facing fines if fish and game saw their ad.

I told them if they are actually sulcata to post better pictures for identifying.
I also mentioned that the CTTC adopts sulcata out for free and $400 is a far strech.

Looks like Cdts, I also ask for info location and all that, then afternoon mention its illegal and they look like cdts, so many times people just stop talking cuz it is truly illegal, they do need a new home too hopefully someone will give them one

I also contacted them. I was very careful to be polite andrespectful. In reality they were probably told that they were Sullies. Most people dont deliberately mistreat their tortoises, they are just critically misinformed and its the tort that suffers for it. I offered my help in locating a local rescue group. We shall see if I get any response.

They are CDTs. Definately not sulcatas.

Since its illegal to sell CDTs here, some folks try to sell them as "sulcatas," feigning ignorance to get around the law. Its dispicable. I'm going to flag this one on Craiglist.

This is just heartbreaking to me. :(
They should not be asking anything for them! I would just want a better home for them.
I guess everyone does not think like me tho and they may need the money.

You have to give desert tortoises some pretty bad care in order for them to pyramid that badly. I too sent them an email warning them of the $10,000 fine for selling a protected species.

Let me tell you what I can and cannot do:
I am in Running Springs at this moment. It is 17 miles from Big Bear.
I am preparing for a 6 week road trip and have very little time. I am about to go down the hill and will be back up here at about 2-3pm. I do not have the time to tey to comtact this guy. I wish I did.
If someone on this forum can convince the guy to release these CDT's, I will pick them up at about 5.
Tomorrow morning I will be going down the mountain at about 10am.
If someone on this forum can meet me at the bottom on the mountain in the 330/10/210 area, I will hand them over to you.
I would be happy to meet the guy in Big Bear.
My cell is 818-416-9356 - Kathy

This is the only way I can help.
If I was not leaving town the sky would be my limit.
Thanks
Kathy

I also sent a brief friendly text last night. Haven't heard anything back. I live in Highland, just down the mountain, so if they agree to surrender let me know how I can be of help.

Thank you! My guess is that they will not respond.
They are looking for money.
Too bad.
