something with a C... ceftamine, i have them in my freezer let me check.
I don't think that Rojita is overweight. But offering more fresh greens and fruit instead of pellets isn't a bad idea. She will appreciate the variety. My Red Foot Tortiose Rojita has a resp. infection, we just got back from the vet. I have to inject her arm every three days, rotating the arm that i inject. I noticed wheezing a week or so ago and got her in as soon as they had an opening slot to see us. The vet said that she doesn't recommend bloodwork or anything of the sort right now because she is otherwise active and eating per usual. I personally hadn't noticed any mucus from her nostrils or mouth but when the vet tried to open her mouth, she had some bubbles come out.
The vet said she's a bit chubby so I gotta feed her less pellets and more greens, which I will do. She said her shell looks good. I'm nervous about injecting her, they showed me how to do it and said that some blood is nothing of concern. If anyone has any tips on how to best get her to recover I would very much appreciate it. I want to share some recent photos of her so y'all can let me know what you think about her carapace and plastron, and just overall health. When I first got her, her pyramiding looked a lot more significant bc of the living conditions she was in prior to me. i notice some of her shell has white in between the lines. is that shell rot or mineral deposits?
Those stringy bits you were worried about do indeed just look like plant fibres, her stool could be a bit looser if it’s more watery greens like lettuce you’ve increased, but I wouldn’t be worried about this poop too much personallywhat do y’all think of her poop? I’ve been soaking her almost every day in warm water while she’s recovering. I recently have changed her diet slightly to increase greens before this her poop was solid and fine. She’s been eating collards, mustard and green leaf lettuce. Some fruit like papaya and strawberries. With her pellets every three days or so or mixed w greens.
It takes two-three weeks on average. If she is not getting worse, active and has good appetite - these are good signs. Correct temperatures and humidity also speed up recovery process (I remember that nighttime temperature was a bit lower than desirable). How long until Rojita starts making progress in her recovery? She’s still active and eating, gave her the second shot yesterday but still wheezy every now and again when breathing.
Thank you. I got her night temps up and it’s also not as cold in my house anymore. I successfully gave her the second shot but this third shot was hard. I tried my best and I couldn’t do it. Could try again but I worry if I try too much I’ll just injure her. This is stressing me out so much and I worry I won’t help her recoverIt takes two-three weeks on average. Maybe give it another try once you’re feeling calmer about it, getting stressed can definitely make it more tricky. I’m sure she’ll start improving! Especially now temps are even warmerThank you. Lol it brought me so much ease to read this. I really am trying my best here. Here’s a pic of her on the way to the vet today. Thanks for yalls support through this I don’t know what I would do without this forum. On the plus side, betweenshells, a sick tortoise wouldn't put up so much resistance, so your tort IS doing better.
Aw bless herLol it brought me so much ease to read this. I really am trying my best here. Here’s a pic of her on the way to the vet today. Thanks for yalls support through this I don’t know what I would do without this forum.

Her day and night temps range between 82-88, with it being warmer during the day. Her humidity ranges between 60-86%. Been struggling to get the humidity right but I’m trying the best I can. It's possible that prescribed antibiotic doesn't work against the pathogen causing wheezing.
But you still have to do all the shots. In some cases symptoms like wheeze or whistle can be permament.
What are temperatures (day/night) and humidity in the enclosure now?
Sounds good enough! Her day and night temps range between 82-88, with it being warmer during the day. Her humidity ranges between 60-86%. Been struggling to get the humidity right but I’m trying the best I can.
I haven’t but I can! Could it also be the case that the antibiotics will still take time?Sounds good enough!
Did you cover the meshed top of the enclosure to keep humidity?
