Hi all first time posting my Redfoot Beary has been showing signs of what I suspect is shell rot my vet has told me that it could of been scarring but this is spreading and I’m worried for my tort. We have another visit this week but I’d like to hear from y’all as well.

the enclosure is never soaking wet but humid 70 - 85% regularly

thank you.
Rob

Get yourself a cheap tube of athletes foot cream and apply it for a few days. It should be gone in about 3 days and you can cancel that vet visit.

Thank you I read to brush the affected areas then apply the cream.

I've only dealt with it once and I just slathered some cream on there a couple times and in about 3 days it was completely gone.

You might need to brush the more stubborn areas with a rather stiff brush to remove the dead and dying shell tissue first, then apply the antifungal cream. In really severe cases, I have even used a small wire brush to debride the dead shell tissue.
