Hello I’m new to the forum. I found these weird looking white spot on my tortoise shell yesterday. It looks painful and I’m not sure what it means. Does anyone have any advice for me as to if it’s to do with her diet or more serious?

It looks as though some of the scute has chipped off, leaving the bone underneath exposed. Did something drop on the tortoise which might have caused the chip?

I don’t think so it’s strange I just moved her into a new enclosure with a hide box where she’s been spending most of her time. I’m not sure if she accidentally did it to herself or not.

Is it possible that spot has been there for a while and you just now noticed it? It doesn't look all that fresh to me, but I am going from the photo. I cannot see any sign of blood in the white area, nor any appearance of it being moist. It looks totally dry like an older wound would be.
