A few days ago, while I was giving my Hatchling Sulcata a warm bath before his meal I noticed the edges of his shell close to his neck on the top half were curled upward. I'm not sure if I should be worried or not. I have the humity to a moderate according to the gaugesand I have a bit of moss in his hidey hole to keep where he sleeps high. Also because of the cool air outside, some roaches ventured their way into my house... I'm worried they will hurt him is there any way I can keep them out of his enclosure until I get an exterminator?

Not sure about the shell but roaches will not hurt him at all. They feed on feces and if anything will help clean up lol

Greetings....shell curling there in your pix looks very normal.

You might want to upload a pix of the enclosure u have for your Sully. The Forum might be able to give you other tips and ideas regarding substrate, lighting, heating, etc.

He refuses to eat out of his food dish, I got it because it's a bit rough so his beak won't get to bad, but since he won't eat out of it in not sure what I should get that he'll want to eat out of.

Your enclosure looks very nice! The only suggestion I would make is to get rid of the red heat bulb and replace it with a ceramic heat emitter, because torts can still see it even though it's labeled as invisible. This causes problems with sleeping because torts need complete darkness to sleep, and the red color makes things that aren't food look like food.

But other than that, you're enclosure looks great to me!

Ok, now that I think I figured out how big it is, I can tell you that it is not nearly big enough. I'm assuming you have him in a ten gallon, and, in my experience, you should have at least a 40 gallon, just for a hatchling. Even then, a 4x2 foot enclosure would be better. I would look into buying a large Rubbermaid bin to keep him in for now, and cut holes in the lid for lights and line them with tin foil.

Your enclosure looks beautiful, however it is much too small for a tortoise that roams miles in a day.

Just gonna add onto my list of replies since I can't seem to remember what I want to type, those disk thermometers aren't reliable at all, and you should look into getting a temp gun. And even then, the disk thermometers should be at the tortoise's level measuring, not higher up like it is.
