Hi there,

I am very worried about Zelda, my 7 year-old sulcata tortoise. It looks like his shell has not been growing right - I’m afraid the pyramiding has gotten worse but now it looks like something else is wrong too. He’s grown extremely fast this last year.. and this discoloration/deformity has become much more noticeable. I’m so worried that he has scoliosis or something since the bumps on his shell are not aligned correctly. Maybe he hasn’t been getting enough calcium?? The center bump looks warped and lopsided. And the color pattern isn’t symmetrical.

I’m not sure how exactly to change his diet to fix this problem and prevent future disfigurement. Please any advice will help. Anyone else have this problem or know what it is??

You can take a Q-tip soaked in cold pressed coconut oil and rub that spot where the scutes seem to be stuck and no new growth is showing.
