Roughly what age does the plastron firm up? My hatchling is 2months and I picked him up the other day n noticed it is still quite pliable. I read all these stories about soft shells n it scares the crap outa me.
He gets calcium on his food and has a little cuttle, he has a long UVB bulb and healthy natural diet of grass and weeds.

It varies....I mean, if the baby shell is "pliable" and not squishy/mushy--then at that age, should be fine....lets say if the tort begins to "get" a soft mushy shell then there is a problem....if the shell is simply pliable then that is not a problem...go through your husbandry checklist and if all good on the uva/uvb exposure opportunity is good and diet is varied....access to water is good...then let time do its part...
