I mean a couple weeks back I weighed Tort in at 38g which was a new high lol. But within 2 days he weighed in at 31g. Which seemed really odd to drop that much. For the past few weeks hes only been able to get up to 36g. So I mean on average his weight has gone up around 3g which is at least an improvement. But not much.

I have romaine, kale, and endive chopped up in there today. Ill start putting moist mazuri pellets in there again as well. Probably won't touch them as usual.

Weighed him before work he was 38g again which is nice. Now I still continue to struggle with food for my tort so im open to idea's for other things to feed him. Like something besides the normal lettuces or clovers. I may try grated yellow squash. I just figure it has to do with taste. Romaine isnt the best but it tastes much better than endive and things.

Did he like the Radicchio? I'm trying to come up with other ideas. Mine were so picky when they were smaller too.

No he never ate it. He goes to town on romaine. He will take a bite or 2 out of something else and like a baby, makr a face like its the worst thing ever and try to spit it out. Is there a different veggie that might not be so bad? Obviously no cucumber.

Red and yellow are quite sweet. That might be something that works. Ill give that a shot too.

Yes, you don't want to make it a daily part of the diet, but if it gets him eating, a little every few days isn't a problem, especially if he is eating other good stuff with it.

I took a sample to my dogs vet a while ago. They do see reptiles but don't specialize in them by any means. They said it was inconclusive. And said I ahould give 5 doses of panacure. I gave one and stopped. He didn't seem to be looking well and they said 1 dose a day. It probably could have killed my tort.

It would be worth your while to take a sample to an experienced tortoise vet. One who knows exactly what he/she is looking for and has seen it many times before. One that knows which meds are safe for tortoises and in what dose, based on years of previous experience, not what they just read on the internet in the back room.

Yeah just not the problem of finding a proper vet that handles tortoises. I'll see what I can find.

I've been having a weight problem with my tort also. It's been 2 months now and he is suck at 72g. I read through this whole thread and I'm really encouraged by your small amount of weight gain. Keep it up!!

Is the sample was not fresh (from the same day, kept in RT) they could miss protozoa in the poop and panacure is not the best for them, for my leo I've got from the Vet Metronidazolum and it helped. From 47 g he hit 170 g in 2,5 months (now his over 500 g). If the poo is runny you should definitely repeat the test and the treatment. Good luck :)

It was when I did the first test. But the stool is good now. It's not dry but very green and thick.
Is there a list of things I should ask them to look for? I found a specialist but it's just too much for me at the moment. Almost 140 for an office visit and test. I could go back to my normal vet if they test for the proper parasites.

Take the poo as fresh as You can (my leo's poo was on the way to the Vet's fresh :)) and tell them to look in it for protozoa. For example in my Nini's poo Vet found significant amounts of:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciliate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amoeba

If Your leo is CB it is less probable but if the lil one is an import it could be it.

"It's not dry but very green and thick"
It shouldn't be paste thick more like a solid piece thick :):)

Good luck and all the best to Your leo :)

I jusy assumed because he was still small that the poo would be still like a paste and not dry like the adults. I'll have to take a few pictures when I get a chance.

When my two poo it comes out shiny...like it's wet, even though its pretty solid. If it sits in the enclosure on the rare occasion they don't poop in their soaking water, then it dries up fairly quickly. But it never comes out totally dry.

I haven't been able to get a pic of any poo yet. I've been working 60 hours. He's been going in the tub when I soak him usually.

Now I did have a quick question. I remember hearing that pumpkin seeds help with something. Like bake them and grind them up and sprinkle on the food. Maybe I could try that just to see? Heck wouldn't hurt to try and feed pumpkin to him as well right?
