treating with baytril

i was wondering about how many shots into treatment before you would notice an improvement? mine has had 2 shots so far but is still making noises and has slight bubbling from nose. also if the baytril don't work what would be done next?

Like all antibiotics, baytril"s efect will vary from animal to animal. I would suggest you follow thru with vets instructions and not worry unless the tort takes turn for the worse. You will see an improvement over time.

It took Lois about 3 days worth of shots to start showing signs of getting better when she had her infection.

you also need to keep the tortoise warm 24/7 whilst recieving shots for them to work, so heat lamp through the day and then another source at night.

My tort had a particularly bad strain of bacteria and had, had it for quite some time. So it took longer for him to show signs of getting better, as well as a longer time on the Baytril.

What kind is your tortoise?
Tortoises often take a long time to get over respiratory infections...sometimes weeks.
Did the vet have you give the injections or are you having to take him in every day or 2? And yes, do keep his enclosure warmer than usual...90's days & high 70's nights. You also might want to put him on carpet til he gets over this. Did the vet look at the nose bubble mucous on a slide under the microscope? You might ask the vet if he should be nebulized. We did that at the hospital I worked at for a couple of Sulcatas, and a gopher tort. Be patient. Their metabolism is way slower than ours, so it will take longer for the meds to work. Humans seldom get over a cold in less than 10 days!

well 6 shots in and no improvement she actually seems worse i think all these shots are stressing her ut she hasn't eaten in a week and hardly comes out to bask my vets out of town til the 24 so after tomorrows shot she'll have to wait a week before she comes back. and probly many more shots this sucks

If your keeping her warm 24/7, at about 86F, there is no need for her to bask.
I'd definately keep her warm like this until your vet gets back. Most respiratory infections take longer than 7 days to clear up.

well today she seems much better way more active and now has stopped making them noises like gasping air,no more bubbling from nose 3 more shots left. but looking much better

ok after 7shots she seems to just make them noises right before the lights come on then after basking they stop and she seems fine the rest of the day.is this a sound they make or is this from the ri?
